Mile High Murder, No. 56: Gunshot to the head stops the party at Saturday's Night Club

View Larger Map Unless I'm very much mistaken, people go to clubs to have fun, not die -- yet the latter's happened several times since we started our Mile High Murder project in late May.

No. 5: Security Guard Alfredo Gonzalez-Ramos was slain at the El Chapparal late that month.

No. 29: Four people were shot, and one died, near Aurora's Street Soldiers Motorcycle Club in July.

No. 49: John Singleton was gunned down following a night of Halloween revelry at Club Posh.

And now, No. 56: A man was fatally shot in the head early Saturday morning at Saturday's Night Club, 8315 E. Colfax Avenue, an area captured in the graphic above (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map").

The details:

The Denver Police Department say a couple of guys who were kicked out of the venue -- a strip joint -- returned with a gun that they used on a man with whom they'd fought. For the rest of the details made public to date, check out this DPD release:

On November 21, 2009, at 3:25 a.m., Denver Police received a call of a shooting, which had occurred inside Saturday's Night Club, at 8315 E. Colfax Ave. Officers found one victim who had been shot in the head. Detectives learned that there had been an altercation inside the club and that two of the men who were involved were kicked out of the night club. The same men returned a short time later and one of them shot the victim (whom had been in an altercation with them). The victim died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and there have been no arrests at this time. The victim's identity will be determined by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner/Coroner.
