But these efforts didn't prevent a stabbing last night in front of a McDonald's restaurant that's among the busiest along this iconic stretch of Denver.
Details and more below.
According to Denver Police Department spokesman Sonny Jackson, the incident took place at approximately 8:25 p.m. yesterday in front of the McDonald's nearest 16th and Broadway. Here's a look at the restaurant in question:
Officers rushed to the scene, Jackson says, "and they found a black male party suffering from a stab wound to the neck area."Fortunately, the injury wasn't life-threatening. "He was alert and talking" prior to being taken to a nearby hospital, Jackson notes.
The suspect in the crime is described as a white male around 45 years of age, with red hair, a short red beard and dark clothing. The cops set up a canvas in the immediate area, but the man was able to evade capture. At this writing, he remains at large.
As for what set off the altercation, Jackson says, "It appears the two people possibly knew each other and there was a verbal confrontation between them" -- one that quickly became very pointed.
