Things to Do

Today's featured event: A live Broadcast with Meese, tonight at Twist & Shout

Denver's got more than its share of success stories in the 21st-century rock arena. One of them, Meese, formed five years ago when the Meese brothers, Patrick and Nathan, reunited here and decided to collaborate on a combo. They stuck with it, and since their 2007 tune "Tell Me It's Over" took over the airways, the men of Meese have gained a national profile, touring the nation with a slew of name bands, including fellow townies the Fray, with whom they'll hook up later this summer -- but not before Meese releases a new album, Broadcast, which debuts today. And where better to introduce the collection than right here in Denver, at a release party and performance tonight at 6 p.m. at Twist & Shout, 2508 E. Colfax Avenue? Though your chances of getting in the door are slim and maybe none (entrance wristbands for the free event have been offered since the beginning of June to anyone pre-purchasing the album), you can always try. After all, these homeboys know where their fan base first took root.
