Original item, 12:58 p.m. August 23: Denver Police are not yet describing the investigation of a fatality yesterday afternoon at 2371 Monaco Street a homicide -- and there are certainly some unusual aspects about the case at this early point.
For one thing, the victim's roommate is said to have initially called the fire department instead of the cops, apparently not realizing the man had been stabbed.
According to the DPD, fire department personnel showed up at the residence around 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon and soon determined that the victim had sustained a stab wound. Shortly thereafter, police were notified and the injured party was rushed to Swedish Medical Center, where he was declared dead.
At this point, neither the victim nor any suspects have been named, and the cops emphasize that they don't know how the fatal injuries took place. Presumably, an autopsy will help determine if this incident was a crime or something else entirely.
