Mile High Murder, No. 38: Darryl Stricklin and Jodi Samuels identified in apparent murder-suicide in Broomfield

The Broomfield Police Department has named a couple found dead at 2791 Calkins Place over the weekend in what looks like an all-too-typical murder suicide. He's Darryl Stricklin, 45, of Larkspur; she's Jodi Samuels, 36, of Broomfield. They were married.

Not many details released yet, but in cases like this one, surprises are few and far between. Instead, there are usually distressing facts like this one: Three children under five were in the house at the time of the shooting. The shooter's final gift -- a trauma capable of lingering a lifetime. Look below for the information made available thus far:

After positive identification and family notifications, the male has been identified as 45 year old Darryl Stricklin of Larkspur, Colorado. The female has been identified as 36 year old Jodi Samuels of Broomfield, Colorado. This case remains open and is an active investigation. No further information is being released at this time.

Prior information released 09/12/09:

Officers responded to a report of a disturbance call occurring at 2791 Calkins Place. Upon arrival officers found a 36 year old female and her 46 year old ex-husband deceased from gun shot wounds.

An acquaintance of the female was present at the time of the incident and reported it to the police. There were three children in the house all under the age of 5 years old and are presently being cared for by Broomfield County Health & Human Services.
