The Oskar Blues CAN'd Aid Foundation, which was created a year ago to help Lyons -- where Oskar Blues was founded -- recover from the devastating floods that ravaged several towns in Colorado, said this week that is had raised one million dollars over the past twelve months and has expanded its mission. In the first three months, CAN'd Aid distributed $515,000 (including a $150,000 personal donation from Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis), money that helped 235 families, 65 businesses and five organizations. But the nonprofit foundation is now focused on grants to help small businesses in other places, particularly those that focus on music, arts and culture, disaster relief, outdoor pursuits, health and wellness, and sustainability and recycling.
