I’m looking to smoke higher concentrations of THC but wasted half of my wax last time I bought some. Is there any way to get stoned off my gourd that isn’t so sticky and messy?
Wax heads and dabbers would cringe to hear you say such a thing, but it’s perfectly reasonable to stay away from expensive concentrates if you don’t have an oil rig or the coordination to melt some hash oil over a bowl. Well-made shatters aren’t gooey at all and are very easy to play with, but it sounds like you might have an old-school taste for bubble hash or kief. Both can be shaved or sprinkled over a bowl without much difficulty and provide the slap to the face you’re looking for. But thanks to the soaring popularity of BHO, CO2 oil and other space-age concentrates, kief is an endangered species in dispensaries nowadays, and bubble hash — though more common — is on the verge of joining it. And what a shame that is: A few pinches of kief over my Volcano bowls provides dab-like potency, and twisting up some bubble-hash strips for a joint is a classic way to get a strong, clean fade. You might have to call around to find either, so if it you’re too lazy to search, try a pre-filled hash-oil cartridge for a vaporizer and see how you like the high. Just make sure the THC content is high enough for you.
When an infused edible — like a chocolate bar — melts, and then you let it harden back to normal, does the potency stay perfectly balanced, or is it all messed up and stronger/weaker in certain areas?
The summer is upon us, and with it comes plenty of melted chocolate and sticky palms. But pot-infused chocolate bars — like scorpions — can survive both the heat and the freezer, as long as you keep them properly contained. Bob Eschino, the owner of Colorado edibles maker Incredibles, is much more qualified to answer this question, and here’s what he says: “When a chocolate bar melts, the THC doesn’t migrate. It’s all done by weight. So when it’s bunched up in a corner after melting and refreezing, you’re going to get some concentrate, but that’s because the chocolate is built up, not because all of the THC moved over to one side.”
So there you have it, Sizzle. If your melted special bar stays in its package and not your pocket linings, resuscitation is easy — but it’ll never look the same, and you’ll have a harder time splitting up the servings. If that doesn’t bother you, keep driving with the A/C off.
