Tom's Urban, the American diner on the corner of 15th and Larimer streets, is closed and the windows have been papered over. But a quick check of the restaurant's Facebook page reveals the closure is only temporary. A post from September 24: "Tom's Urban will be temporarily closed for improvements until October 10. We apologize for the inconvenience but see you next Sunday!"

This Tom's Urban is one of three in the U.S. operated by the Consumer Concept Group, which also runs the Denver-based Smashburger and Live Basil Pizza chains. The Los Angeles branch also experienced a recent closure of two days and reopened with a whopping 75 TV screens intended to please sports fans.

The Larimer Square eatery originally opened in 2012 as Tom's Urban 24, one of the rare restaurants willing to keep a kitchen cooking day and night, but dialed back to more standard hours over a year ago. The Tom in the restaurant's moniker belongs to Tom Ryan, who founded Smashburger with Rick Schaden in 2007.
