Things to Do

Twelve Best Spots for Eating, Drinking and Watching the Broncos Win the Super Bowl Sunday

If there are two things we're serious about here in Denver, they are football and food. And why not? Food and football just go together — and when you add a drink to the mix, suddenly you've got a party. This Sunday we get to combine our passions in a most spectacular way: by eating and drinking our way through Super Bowl 50. With no Broncos game to watch last weekend, Denver has been working up an appetite for the big game, but there will be much more than the Panthers on our plate. While some people like to bite their nails in the privacy of their own home, others want to share their experience in a crowd — and have a much better lineup of drinks and snacks. So here's a twelve-pack of places where you can satiate your appetite for food, brews and victory this Sunday as we watch the Broncos crush the Panthers.

1. Tavern Downtown
The Tavern Downtown has been recognized as one of the best places in the U.S. to watch the Broncos play Sunday — and you can help push it to the top. Want to help win this one for Denver? Voting goes through midnight on Super Bowl Sunday, and you can vote as often as you want by voting here. But all of the Taverns should be winning places to watch the Super Bowl, with big TVs and food and drink specials. Find out more on the home site for Tavern Hospitality Group.

2. La Biblioteca
Pre-game at La Biblioteca with a Linebacker bottomless brunch, which includes unlimited small plates and free-flowing brunch cocktails for $39 a person. Brunch will be available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and if you want to stick around, you can watch the game on one of five large-screen TVs around the bar. You can even go a second round of food with the Broncos Super Bowl Special, which includes ten Korean wings and two Sapporos for $18. For reservations and more information, call the restaurant at 720-904-0965.

3. Punch Bowl Social
Punch Bowl is getting into the football spirit with a Broncos-inspired punch: The Orange Is the New Blue. On Sunday it will be available along with a few other specials, including half-off sweet chipotle wings and chips and salsa, as well as $5 Old Man Cans and brats. Enjoy your food and drink while you watch the game on any of the bar's sixteen TVs. For more information, call Punch Bowl at 303-765-2695.

4. Ophelia's
Watch the game on Ophelia's giant, 24-foot television while you enjoy $5 wells and $3 Colorado beers. And because a Super Bowl party just wouldn't be a party without food, Ophelia's is offering a $25 Super Bowl Spread that includes unlimited wings, flatbreads, sliders and more. Call 303-993-8023 to make a reservation.

5. ViewHouse

On Sunday the ViewHouse in the Ballpark neighborhood will boast a fully covered and heated courtyard tent with a 120" TV, dozens of other flat-screens throughout the bar, and enough orange-and-blue decor to make your head spin — and that doesn't even include the drink and food specials. The bar will be offering $2 touchdown shots, $3 Coors, $5 Jim Beam shots and cocktails, as well as cabanas, bottle service and tailgating food platters for large parties. There is no cover, but a food-and-drink minimum may apply for cabanas and some other seating. Throughout the game, guests can text BRONCOS to 28748 for the chance to win giveaways, including a a 50" Vizio LED Smart HDTV. Doors open at 10 a.m. so you can get your pre-game on with a ViewHouse brunch and Bloody Mary bar. Check out the special menu here, and call ViewHouse at 303-250-0054 for reservations.

6. RiNo Yacht Club
If watching the game elbow-to-elbow in a musty bar isn't your idea of a fun way to watch, the RiNo Yacht Club at the Source will host a party starting at 2:30 p.m. There will be drink specials and Broncos-inspired cocktails all day, but pack your own lunch and snacks. For more information, contact the Yacht Club at 720-443-1135.
