Venus the Two Face Cat Is Coming to the Denver County Fair, July 29-31

When the Denver County Fair returns to the National Western Complex on July 29 for its annual extravaganza, it will have a purrfect new face representing the event: Venus the Two Face Cat.

Last year the fair dumped the Pot Pavilion in favor of the Kitten Pavilion, and the kitties were  such a hit that the Kitten Pavilion will be twice as large in 2016, on its own upstairs level with more cats than ever — including celebrity cat guest Venus, star of Instagram. Venus will make her first-ever stage appearance at a fan Q&A.

"The world's most beloved cat celebrities tend to have one thing in common," says Denver County Fair director Dana Cain, who just announced this special guest.  "They have unforgettable, adorable faces. Lil Bub's big eyes and her tongue that always hangs out .... Grumpy Cat's perpetually disgusted pout... Well, those two have nothing on this cat. Venus's face is one that you will never forget."

A rescue cat, Venus was living a quiet life in Florida until her photo went viral on Reddit — and when people doubted that her look was natural, her owners defended her honor everywhere from the web to the Tonight Show.

Venus will appear on stage at the Denver County Fair for about twenty minutes each day, and also hold VIP meet-and-greets with fans. Tickets to those are $50, and all proceeds will be split between local nonprofit, no-kill cat shelters in Denver and in Florida, near Venus’s home town.

The Kitten Pavilion, sponsored by The International Cat Association and Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat, will also feature a two-day sanctioned TICA cat show and the Yellow Rose Cat Club, a cat-video marathon, ongoing cat agility trials, a display of cat collectibles, a family house-cat fun show with blue ribbons, cat-centric vendors and more.

The Kitten Pavilion is just one of many attractions at the Denver County Fair, which will run from July 29 through July 31. Tickets go on sale soon; for more information, visit
