Cool River Cafe, a longtime gathering place on East Belleview Avenue in Englewood, is coming downtown, slated to open by the end of May in the space at 1480 Arapahoe Street that's currently occupied by Reunion Gastro Pub & Wine Bar (and Prime Steakhouse and Hickory Prime Steakhouse and 5280 Steakhouse and Gallagher's Steakhouse before that). Despite the problems other steakhouses have had staking a claim in this spot, the Facebook page promises that "Cool River Steakhouse will be Downtown Denver’s top steakhouse and seafood restaurant featuring an elegant atmosphere..." But readers have their doubts. Says Joe:
Cool River claiming it will be downtown's top steakhouse? Not so cool.
Adds Dave:
Cool River = overpriced bland food for the corporate lunch crowd.
Have you been to Cool River? How do you think a downtown version will compare to such noted steakhouses as the renovated Palm, the Capital Grille and Ocean Prime, all just blocks away?
