Second Helpings

High on LoHi: A Second Helping of Westword Food & Drink, July 18-22

In this week's restaurant news, the vacant Lower Highland restaurant space that still channels the spirit of Rosa Linda's Mexican Restaurant got a new tenant. Nine months after the iconic north-side Mexican joint closed, we know that Bremen's Wine & Tap will soon swing open its doors on West 33rd Avenue. And around the corner on Tejon Street, Fat Jack's Supersubs managed to slide into a new slot just weeks after losing its lease a block south in Dickinson Plaza. Be careful if you're driving that way, because demolition on the corner of 32nd and Tejon is under way, and crews have parts of both streets blocked off. Be even more careful in the neighborhood if you're a skateboarder; gawkers in cars are paying more attention to the changing scenery than to traffic signs — as a Little Man Ice Cream customer captured on video earlier this week.

LoHi continues to draw plenty of food and drink entrepreneurs. Jonathan Shikes reported that Zuni Street Brewing will open soon in the neighborhood, while Gretchen Kurtz talked to Kristofor Lofgren, who brought his sustainable seafood eatery, Bamboo Sushi, to Avanti Food & Drink earlier this summer.
