Ten Things to Do in Denver for $10 or Less (Seven Free), August 12-14

Sure, you could stay home and catch the Olympics — but there's just too much fun stuff going on in town this weekend. Why stick to your sofa when you can explore the city, dance your cares away and have some cheap laughs? Here are our ten favorite events under $10; find more winning activities on the Westword calendar

Sexpot Comedy Lucha Libre & Laughs: Fights on 44th
The Oriental Theater
8 p.m. Friday, $10

We're usually closing out the weekend with LL&L, but this time LL&L kicks off the fun. The wrestlers will be flying around the ring in major revenge bouts and intense tag-team challenges. Nathan Lund and Sam Tallent bring the color commentary, with more laughs coming from Aaron Urist, joined by David Rodriguez, Allison Rose and Nebraska all-star Ryan de la Garza
National Bowling Day
Punch Bowl Social
9 a.m. Saturday, $5

Sometimes you just have to hit the lanes — especially if it's National Bowling Day. Punch Bowl is offering a $5 all-you-can-roll-in-an-hour deal to honor the day. The eatertainment complex will have The Big Lebowski playing on the screens, so you can look up and get some pointers. And don't leave without drinking a couple of White Russians — they're on special all day.

Sloan's Lake Arts and Music Festival
Sloan's Lake Park
9:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, free

Head to the south side of Denver's second-largest park for a couple of days of arty fun in the sun. There will be plenty of kids' activities along with the art, and the musical acts include Ponder the Albatross, Franny and the Jets and many more
Mount Vernon Country Club
11 a.m. Saturday, free

Lend a helping hand to the Evergreen Animal Protective League while enjoying Woofstock. You can bring your own tie-dye outfit for your pet or make a costume on site for the dog parade. The Modnicks will provide live music while you chow down on hot dogs and hamburgers, check out adoptable animals and more.
