The Cocktails of DISH 2016: Tiki Talk and Rum Concoctions

There's only a day left until Westword's DISH, our annual celebration of the Denver dining scene, which returns Sunday, September 25, for its 22nd year. The festival of food will take over Sculpture Park at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, where dozens of local restaurants will offer samples of their best dishes — along with some fabulous drinks from our beverage sponsors.

Don Q Rum of Puerto Rico is hosting its Interactive Tiki Tent with cocktails featuring Don Q Rum, Death’s Door Gin and Barrow’s Intense Ginger. The tent will have an area where participants can learn a little tiki history while getting tips on how to make their own unique tiki cocktail garnish and how to swizzle a rum swizzle. There will also be a Goorin Brothers Rum Hat raffle, as well as tiki music and ice-crushing demonstrations. Participating bartenders include Allison Widdecombe of the Way Back and  Rae Raymond of Aspen.

There will also be samples of Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey in the VIP section, where ticket holders will be able to meet distiller Aaron Hersom.  For a GMO- and gluten-free option, the folks at Mighty Swell Sparking Cocktails — new to the Denver market — will also be pouring samples.

For $40 per person, you'll be able to sample great beverages along with unlimited food from more than forty eateries and live entertainment from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. (For general admission tickets: General admission DISH tickets through AXS.)

VIP tickets will run you $75, which will get you early access to the event at 11 a.m.; unlimited food, beverage and liquor sampling; and access to a VIP area featuring an open bar provided by Stella Artois and live entertainment. For VIP tickets: go to VIP DISH tickets through AXS.

To avoid services charges, you can also purchase tickets at the gate. See you tomorrow!
