4. Draping and Pattern-Making Certificate Series

The Denver Design Center offers many classes and workshops, and now you can learn pattern-making and draping through four specialty courses (the others are February 20, March 6 and March 13) that will give any fashion enthusiasts the basic pattern-making and draping skills to advance; Keti Lagvilava will offer hands-on instruction. The first part of the night is a fashion show, highlighting the work of Brian “Scoop” Nemeth, who has high-functioning Aspergers and sews complex fashions including swimwear, skirts, vests, pants and more. After a brief intermission, there will be a concert featuring Mer Sal and the Symbols, a female-fronted funk-pop-rock trio from Fort Collins. Westword's signature event is a multimedia celebration of Denver's art and culture scene, and the Whiteout fashion show is always a highlight of the evening. This year the theme is street style, and designers who will show their work on the runway include Anna Festa, Mona Lucero, Jiberish, Denver Bespoke, D’Lola Couture, Elyse Rainbolt and Gino Velardi. Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare will be doing hair and makeup, and models will be provided by Wilhelmina Denver.
