Art Gym is proud to present "Artists’ Book Cornucopia VIII," an exhibition curated by Alicia Bailey, Director Abecedarian Artists’ Books, and juried by Cynthia Nourse-Thompson, Director of the graduate programs in Book Arts at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. "Artists’ Book Cornucopia VIII" is eighth in a series of international exhibitions of contemporary artists' book works, and highlights the diversity of materials, mediums and techniques within the book arts genre. The exhibit includes work by 26 artists from throughout the United States. Join the opening reception with curator Alicia Bailey on October 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Art Gym Gallery. During the exhibition, there will be two events: "Hands on Artists Books", a curatorial talk by Alicia Bailey on October 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and "Artists Book Show and Tell," a critique session facilitated by Alicia Bailey and Gregory Santos, Printmaking Director at Art Gym, on November 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public and held at Art Gym Gallery. The works on display include an array of media including traditional materials such as paper, leather, book board, thread and cloth, co-existing with less typical materials such as glass, metal, wood and cast acrylic. The artists have employed a variety of printing techniques such as letterpress, silkscreen, non-silver print processes, offset lithography and lasercutting as well as hand-imaging techniques such as monoprinting, drawing, painting and embroidery.
