Castle Rock Writers is back with its tenth annual conference, offering Colorado writers a low-cost, high-value writing experience. This year’s main event will be held on Saturday, October 21 from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the meeting rooms at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Castle Rock. This year’s theme is “Creativity in Progress: Start or Polish Your Manuscript.” Writers choose one of four genres; each track will provide mini-lessons before offering time to work on a new or existing piece of writing in the company of other writers in your genre. The four tracks are: adult fiction and memoir; middle grade and young adult; non-fiction; and poetry. The fourth session in three of the tracks will include a panel discussion by workshop leaders. The poetry group will have a poetry reading for willing readers. The conference is designed for new writers through advanced writers, including published writers who would like a refresher. Registration for the all-day conference is $85, which includes lunch and an optional agent pitch. [Organizer's description]
