“It takes all of the moments that you know from the film — the moments you pretend you don’t know — and replaces them with musical and dance numbers,” says Deb Flomberg, co-director of Equinox Theatre Company, which is bringing the production to the Bug Theatre. Flomberg promises that there will still be plenty of innuendo to go around, but the adult content isn’t about making people uncomfortable; it’s about getting laughs.
Local actor Valerie Igoe plays Debbie in this R-rated sendup, and you can follow her exploits through the hashtag #DebbieDoesDallasTheMusical on Instagram and Twitter.
Debbie Does Dallas opens tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Bug, 3654 Navajo Street, and continues on select dates through March 7; tickets for the adults-only affair are $17 to $25. For more information and to purchase tickets, call 720-984-0781 or visit equinoxtheatredenver.com.
