Groupmuse – known for their classical music house concerts – is returning to Denver for their third Massivemuse event on September 29th. This time, they’ve called on help from a Denver native: they’ve tapped writer, humanist and creative polymath Brenton Weyi to produce the event at The Savoy at Curtis Park.
Weyi will be exploring the theme of “Untold” – highlighting historical figures who have impacted humanity, but whose stories have been forgotten. The classical musical component will look at the music of Fanny Mendelssohn, whose genius went unrecognized in her time due to her gender.
The theatrical component will feature a preview of Weyi’s unproduced musical on Congolese independence, My Country, My Country – a meditation on one of the most important assassinations of the 20th Century, led by the west.
The night will feature a powerful lineup of some of Colorado’s best local talent: classical pianist/Corner Beet event organizer Gio Barabadze, Singer/Songwriters Brodie Kinder and Brett Randell, theater actress Kenzie Kilroy, and many more. [Organizer's description]
