Steel Panther

The guys in Steel Panther display a deep affinity for ’80s hair metal, from their headbands and eyeliner down to their spandex. After all, they got their start as a Van Halen tribute act that could just as easily plow through of a bunch of Crüe and Ratt songs. The quartet began to build its fan base nearly two decades ago on the Sunset Strip, first as Metal Shop and then Metal Skool before settling on Steel Panther. Now the bandmembers make their own jams, and while they take their music seriously, the lyrics can get quite profane — or humorous, depending on how you look at them — with song titles like “Poontang Boomerang” and “Pussy Ain’t Free” from the band’s last album, 2017’s Lower the Bar.
