Stories on Stage: Zombies 'R' Us - Part Arggg
Reading spooky stories is a great way to get in the Halloween spirit, but a good performance can take a scary story and elevate it to something special. Get your selection of seasonal scares this year with Stories on Stage as the crew performs short fiction from the world of the living dead with Zombies 'R' Us - Part Arggg.
“That’s what we do with Stories on Stage -- you find pieces that can be performed,” explains artistic director Anthony Powell. “That’s the fun of it. It’s kind of peculiar. No other company really does this. It’s like being read to when you’re a kid. Just because we’re grownups doesn’t mean you don’t still enjoy that.”
This is the second year of zombie-themed fiction, with all-new tales that cover everything from a humorous yarn about a twelve-step program for zombies to a heartbreaking tale of a mother facing the imminent return of her daughter as a zombie. From the creepy to the campy, each story is an engaging look at the wide, weird world of the walking dead, all brought (back) to life by professional actors. Hear the stories at 8 p.m. October 23 at Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan Street. For tickets, $15, and more info, visit storiesonstage.org.
