“Singing Peace” focuses on bringing peace and compassion to the world through the power of choral singing. The repertoire juxtaposes selections that struggle with war, for example The Choral Suite of Karl Jenkins' famous Armed Man Mass (L'Homme Armee - A Mass for Peace) and love, such as Ola Gjeilo's Ubi Caritas with piano improvisation. In addition the program contains pieces that specifically focus on the role of the choral singer as "comfort giver" and "peace bringer", such as Kim André Arneson's Flight Song and Mark Hayes' Sing Community, Sing Peace. The Evergreen Chorale is honored to be singing the Colorado premiere of this still unpublished piece.
"Singing Peace" will be collaboration with the Thomas Project consisting of talented dancers from the Colorado Ballet with choreography by Kevin Gaël Thomas, and the 80 voices of the Evergreen Chorale. Featured is also accompanist and collaborative pianist, Patrick Lee, assistant conductor Kirsten Carpenter, as well as strings, brass and percussion. The concert is under the musical direction of Christine Gaudreau. [Organizer's description]
