The Colorado Springs-based Back East Bar and Grill has roots on the East Coast dating back to 1980, when the Davis family opened its first pizza place in New York. After getting schooled in the ways of making pizza, Michael, the youngest of five boys, packed up, moved out here and opened the Back East in the Springs in 1997. While the New York-style pizza is clearly the spot's specialty, subs are also on the menu. There are a number of TVs for game-watching, and the bar brings in live music on the weekends. Back East has a second location in Monument, and a third was opened on the 16th Street Mall in late 2014.
