Tiny Daikon opened its doors in Governor's Park in mid-2018, with its mascot, Pickles the Gorilla, rendered in neon and gazing approvingly over the sparse dining room. That's because while everything about the banh mi shop is minimalistic (including the menu, which offers four options in either sandwich or rice-box form), the joint's focus is clearly on the food instead of the space. That’s evident in the healthy servings of chicken, pork, brisket or jackfruit topped with sambal or hoisin; dress up your dish with fresh mint, cilantro, crunchy pickled onions, jalapeños and radish.
