So now that the ballot is finalized for the 2009 Westword Music Showcase, it's time to start fashioning the lineups for the festival itself. It's an agonizing process, mainly because we only have a finite number of slots and a wealth of talent to consider. Typically, the way things work, we determine which artists will be invited to perform and from there we reach out to each one individually. Once we've established who will perform, we convert our conference room into a veritable war room with charts and graphs and spend hours, literally, pacing and wringing our hands as we put together the individual bills, laboring until we come up with must-see lineups. We've done a pretty decent job in years past, but we can always do better. So this year, as the process gets under way once again, we'd love to get your input: Which acts are you excited to see perform? What are your dream lineups? Please share your thoughts below.
