Everything Absent or Distorted (a love story), an act profiled in these pages back in December and who just performed at Artopia, our gigundous annual arts celebration, over the weekend, earned the distinction this week of having its latest platter, the Great Collapse, listed as the tenth most added disc in the country on college radio, according to CMJ. While the number of adds doesn't necessarily affect the group's chart position in the coming weeks, it does put the outfit in good company among its peers; in the not too distant past, bands like Dressy Bessy, the Photo Atlas, Hot IQs, Rabbit Is a Sphere and Cat-A-Tac each had releases listed among the Top 20 adds. The exposure is certainly welcome as the members of Everything Absent prepare to embark on their first cross-country tour for a half-dozen dates. Download a free track from the new album in our MP3 Freeloader section, and see the full dates after the jump.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
