Fuck what you've heard. We've got the the best day parties at SXSW today. Period. Hands down. We've seen New Music Tipsheet's free list. Granted, we're a little biased, but still, personal investments aside, have you seen the line-up? XX! Superchunk! The Pains of Being Pure At Heart! Surfer Blood! It's unfuckwithable. No need to ply you with free booze. Kicks off at noon at La Zona Rosa. And if you happen to be a Denverite, the Mile Hi-Fidelity party at Habana Calle 6 (709 E. 6th Street) is the place to be. Hell, even if you're not from the MHC, this party features the Queen's City's very best. Grab a few tracks after the jump to see what you're in for this afternoon.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
