J.Phlip (aka Jessica Phillippe) was first exposed to house music in Champaign, Illinois, two hours from house-music mecca Chicago. At nineteen, she obtained two belt-drive turntables and a mixer (which didn't have any EQ knobs), and her career as a DJ was born. Phillippe's sound encompasses house, tech house, deep house, techno and bass-heavy tracks; the common denominator is the dance-floor-friendliness of all her selections. She's been an official member of the Dirtybird crew since 2008, and she's played gigs at Fabric, Space Ibiza, Back to Basics and Watergate. She's also enjoyed a run as Claude Von Stroke's favorite support DJ. Currently residing in Berlin (and a frequent visitor to San Francisco), J.Phlip will be supported this round by Pnut and Greg Campbell for a special show at Bar Standard on Friday, December 23.
