Denver is already familiar with Little Mike. In 2002, he garnered a nod in Westword's Best of Denver issue for Best House Music Club Night (that club night, Phrunky Fridays, was the inspiration for Phrunky Recordings, his label with Ty Tek). He was known for being the first in town to bring in such acts as Damian Lazarus, Mr. C and Magda; he held eight-year residencies at the Church and Vinyl; and he played slots at the Winter Music Conference and London's "Wiggle" parties before heading off to this decade's electronic-music hot spot, Berlin. As the first to pioneer tech-house at the Phrunky weekly show, you might expect Little Mike to have pigeonholed himself, but a self-imposed three-year hiatus from deejaying and production, as well as a nine-to-five gig at Beatport, has only expanded his horizons. Expect the best in house, techno and electro when he headlines the aptly named Homecoming Queenz show (along with Crazy Larry, now in New York City) at 2200 on Saturday, December 17.
