Living Room Series Starts Tonight and Rock the Mike: The Freeman Benefit on Saturday

It's been a busy week around here trying to keep track of everything that's going on during the DNC. All eyes are understandably on the high profile events, meaning all the other cool local events that have nothing to do with the convention are in danger of being overshadowed. Not on our watch, buddy. With that in mind, there's two extremely worthy gigs we think you should know about. First is the Living Room series, the always excellent singer-songwriter fest curated by Syntax's Jonathan Bitz (and formerly known as the Moveable Feast). The show, which kicks off tonight at the Meadowlark and runs through Saturday, features a sampling of Denver's finest songsmiths showcasing their wares. Full Schedule after the jump.

And then on Saturday night over at 2401 Blake Street in the former Flying Dog Brewery, a bunch of punk bands are getting together to raise money for Gina Go Faster's Mike Freeman, who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. All proceeds from a $20 cover will be donated directly to Freeman to help offset his medical bills. Holley 750 kicks things off at 7:30 p.m., followed by performances from Amicable Splits, Dead Ringer, Freeman Social, Bold Type and Sick, Sick, Six. Stop by and be sure to pick up a "Fuck Cancer" T-shirt. -- Dave Herrera
