Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

As Eryc Eyl so astutely noted in his Mile High Makeout column today, it is indeed that time of year again, when fans, bloggers and pundits alike compile and weigh in on their top picks for the year. So far, we've stumbled upon a pair of lists, one from Julio Enriquez on his Cause=Time blog, as well as an entry from Jonathan Bitz, talent buyer for the Meadowlark and the man behind the fine literary institution known as Syntax Magazine. As a bonus, Enriquez has also posted a list of scene related picks from various luminaries from the scene. (Hip tip: There's no direct link to the Cause=Time post, so you'll just have to scroll to find it. Sorry.) -- Dave Herrera

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
