The Denver Cruisers -- the bicycle club open to anyone -- stuck a thumb in the eye of Dan Maes last night with its United Nations themed bike ride through the city. Maes, the Republican candidate for governor, made comments earlier this summer that Denver's participation in the B-Cycle rent-a-bike program was "converting Denver into a United Nations community," and asserted that "this is bigger than it looks like on the surface, and it could threaten our personal freedoms." See a full slideshow from last night's Denver Cruisers' U.N. ride. Dressed in garb from around the world, and a few riders dressed as U.N. peacekeepers or Blue Berets, riders left Brooklyn's about 8:30 p.m., headed to the "Cul-de-Sac of Death" and then to Larimer Street landmarks -- the Gin Mill, Herb's, Zanzibar.
