Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

Like his past two albums, Taking Up Your Precious Time and Filling Up The City Skies, Derek Vincent Smith, who performs under the Pretty Lights moniker, has announced plans to release his next effort, Passing By Behind Your Eyes, digitally. Originally set to drop tomorrow, the disc has been pushed back a few weeks and will now be available for free download beginning on Tuesday, October 6. If you haven't already, stop by the Pretty Lights site and download Precious Time and City Skies, which are still available for free, and then catch Pretty Lights at the Ogden Theatre on Saturday, October 3. (Pretty Lights is also slated to appear at the Fox Theatre in Boulder on Thursday, October 1, and the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins on Friday, October 2, but both of those dates have already sold out.)

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
