Pete's Monkey Bar closed out its final night with a stream of folks, some of whom had never stepped foot in the place, stopping by to pay their final respects. Many memories were made, and just as many friendships were forged at Pete's over the past few years, and last night, we caught up with some of the regulars, who kindly shared some of their favorite memories.

PBR Mike "I was the first person to walk in the door of Pete's Monkey Bar."

Susan Parker Most memorable moment: "It was one of those days when I just wanted to stop for a drink after work, and they charged me a cover to see a shitty band. But a bartender gave me a mixed drink to make up for the damage."

Gilbert Smith (left) Most memorable moment: "I helped Pete open this place, did a lot of work here and been here ever since."

Wild Bill Most memorable moment: "I don't know, man, there are too many. Probably when Phil Lesh played here about six years ago."

Jack Fredregill Most memorable moment: "I came over here after watching football and drinking all day because there was a good band playing. This guy asked me, 'Why did you touch my girlfriend's ass?' I thought he was joking, but the next thing I knew, the guy put me into a full-on choke hold. Someone got him off me with a fish hook, then he tried to jump me again. It was the first time I have ever gotten into a bar fight."

Tee Dubya Most memorable moment: "Definitely when Yellowman played here. It was off the hook and incredible. I just don't know how else to say it. The floors were bouncing, people were everywhere, and everyone was dancing."

Animal Most memorable moment: You're looking at it. He defeated the gorilla once and for all.

Mama Sue Most memorable moment: When everyone came to the bar after different shows and exchanged stories. "It's like a community that comes together to talk about Denver's great music scene. There is nothing else like it."
