After eight years of promoting parties around town, Patrick Young of Young Nightlife, thought it was about time to open his own his venue. In March, Young and his business partner took over the Oasis Bar & Hookah Lounge at 1523 Market Street and have been revamping the space, which has been renamed Rumors Nightclub & Lounge, one floor at a time ever since.
Although part of the space -- previously home to such clubs as Crave, Club Purple, the Cosmo Lounge and Beluga -- is now open, the three-story, 12,500 square-foot LoDo club, which is capable of holding 1,200 people, is slated to be open by Saturday, June 1. The third-floor, dubbed Privilege, is still being remodeled and will be very exclusive with VIP beds and bottle service, while the second floor will have Denver's only glass dance floor. The first floor has more of a classy, neighborhood bar feel, Young says, and both first and second floors have fully stocked bars.
The hookah bar in the basement, which has a separate liquor license, is eighteen-plus and will stay open until 4 a.m. Programming wise, the club is planning to work with local and national DJs, and local promoters and nightlife entertainers. Young says they have capability to do anything we want to do. "We can do rock on one floor," he explains. "We could do Top 40 on the other floor. We could do country on one floor or whatever. We're going to be pretty much one of the only spots that features everything."

Three floors will be eventually be open Thursdays through Saturdays, says Young, while the first floor, and possibly the second floor, will probably be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There's a huge party planned for the grand opening on June 1 and another planned with the Triad Dragons on Saturday, June 8. Rumors will also host a Global Dance Festival pre-party with Baauer and have four floors of Harlem Shaking.
"We're going to make the most ridiculous Harlem Shake video," notes Young, adding there will be a live video crew there filming the whole thing.
