Just received a copy of Single File's new record, Common Struggles. Haven't had a chance to give it a real thorough listen yet, but from what we've heard thus far, it doesn't sound like a huge departure from the act's previous recordings. The hummable hooks the band built its name on are plentiful, with an even more polished pop sheen. On first listen, "Miss Cherry Lipgloss" (Katy Perry on the brain there, fellas?) seems to be the standout track. In an act of fortuitous timing -- at least as it relates to this blog -- Single File is currently featured on Spin.com* as a "hot new band." The write-up is accompanied by an embedded stream of the song "Girlfriends."
*Thanks to Saturnkid13 for the tip.
