Props to the Chain Gang of 1974, who has really captured the attention of the editors at Spin. Last fall, after the outfit's performance at CMJ, the magazine praised the act for delivering one of the best sets at the festival. And now, the group, led by former Denverite Kamtin Mohager, now living in Los Angeles, has been deemed one of SPIN's 35 Must-Hear Acts at SXSW.
The newest member of the Warner Bros./Modern Art rosters, Chain Gang -- due back in town for this weekend's Snowball Festival in Vail -- is featured prominently alongside a parade of buzz bands including Cults, Twin Shadow, Dom, Black Lips, Big K.R.I.T. and the Head and the Heart, among others. Now we're not sure how the braintrusts at Spin arrived at the 35 designation -- seems rather arbitrary -- but, you know, whatevs. Good on 'em for recognizing Chain Gang.
