Update: Cephalic Carnage tours with Mayhem

In news that's sure to have local metal fans googling airfare before they even finishing reading this post, we just learned that Cephalic Carnage has been tapped to support Mayhem's upcoming North American tour, fittingly dubbed Blackened Fest. Seems right, as Cephalic is pretty much the only band brutal enough to hang with the Mayhem, a Norwegian black-metal band whose history is littered with violent, inexplicable episodes that allegedly include cannibalism, murder and members fashioning jewelry from the bones of their deceased bandmates. According to MetalUnderground.com, only a pair of dates have been announced on Friday, May 22, in Baltimore at the Maryland Deathfest and on Friday, June 5, in Seattle at Studio Seven. Full dates, including a stop at the Gothic Theatre on Sunday, June 7, are posted after the jump. [updated 02.10.09, originally post: 01.21.09]
