Best artist/band to come out of Denver (that's not yours/you): Ron Miles.

Best song to come out of Denver (that you didn't write): Everything DeVotchKa did on the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack.

If you were a street in Denver, which street would it be and why? First Avenue — you know why.

If you had to choose one act to represent Denver, who would it be and why? Us, because we're good-looking. As opposed to all those other ugly bands in town. We're a handsome bunch.

Which artist has had the biggest impact on you? J Dilla.

Which album has had the biggest impact on you? You can't pick one album, but Slum Village, Fantastic Vol. 2.

File-sharing: Godsend or the death of music? Certainly not the death of music, but may be the death of the twentieth-century business model for the music industry.

Who's on your iPod right now? J Dilla, Joe Henderson, Black Milk, Phat Kat, 4 Hero, the Roots, Kenny Garrett, the Brazilian Girls, Koushik and a bunch of other stuff.

Parting shot: Support local music! Support local art!

GEORGE&CAPLIN
NOMINATED IN AMBIENT/ELECTRONIC
5 P.M., SHELTER

Website: www.myspace.com/georgeandcaplin

Personnel: Alfred Hitchcock's spirit, Jeffrey Stevens (vocals, sampler, trumpet); Jason Iselin (guitar, keyboards, loops); Robin Rozum (flute, keyboards); Josh Gondrez (guitar, keyboards).

Native or transplant? Native.

Releases/discography: He Really Got Through to Advertising (2007); Things Past (2006); Electronic Eulogy From Morse Code Infinity (2004); Fate's First Lonely Night (2003); The Nature of Leaving (2002); The Lost Basement EP (2001).

What three adjectives best describe your music? Alfred Hitchcock once said, "Some of our most exquisite murders have been domestic, performed with tenderness in simple, homey places like the kitchen table." So we choose "exquisite," "simple" and "homey."

Favorite place to play a show: The Hipster Youth Halfway House.

Favorite place to hang out/drink: Alfred refused to answer this one.

Best artist/band to come out of Denver (that's not yours/you): Tyler Potts.

Best song to come out of Denver (that you didn't write): "Carolina Clouds" - Joe Sampson.

If you were a street in Denver, which street would it be and why? Where Wyoming Place meets Arkansas Drive, because we'd like to watch ourselves grow up again.

If you had to choose one act to represent Denver, who would it be and why? We have to agree with Alfred on this one when he says, "The sound could go off and the audience would still have a perfectly clear idea of what was going on." So we choose the band that looks the coolest. Who is that??

Which artist has had the biggest impact on you? Mr. Corey Ryan of Sandusky.

Which album has had the biggest impact on you? Another Green World - Brian Eno.

File-sharing: Godsend or the death of music? Mr. Hitchcock once said, "Self-plagiarism is style." So we spend a lot of time trying to steal our own music.

Who's on your iPod right now? "The paperback is very interesting, but I find it will never replace a hardcover book — it makes a very poor doorstop." We heard Alfred say this once long ago, and we think iPods will make better doorstops in the future. But in the meantime, our iPods hold A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Flying Canyon, A Place to Bury Strangers and Nadja.

Parting shot: "My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like." We can't wait, Mr. Hitchcock!
