According to the Brandon Mondragon arrest affidavit, Mondragon headed to Beta in the company of Charmaine Ortiz and Desirae Valdez at around 10:30 p.m. on October 2. Ortiz caught a ride home with someone else around midnight, while Mondragon and Valdez remained at the club's bar, the narrative maintains.
Later, the document says, Mondragon called Ortiz to say that he'd been driving "when they hit something and he kept going because he panicked."
Valdez told officers the same tale: "She stated that Mondragon was driving them home when the windshield in front of her shattered and glass fragments landed on her as a result. She also stated that she did not know what they had hit."
That "what" turned out to be Albo and Kornman. Look below to read the entire arrest affidavit and a release from the Denver District Attorney's Office about the charges against Mondragon. Then page down to see our original item on Mondragon's arrest and a large mug shot of the suspect.
