Now, a letter has surfaced (see it below) in which a reference to a possible post-prison hit list is accompanied by the evil smiley face to the right and a post-script features an exclamation point with a swastika in the place of the dot.
We've shared reports about Ebel's alleged affiliation with the 211 prison crew, known as a white-supremacist organization, as well as his prison records, which feature reports about guard-punching and feces-smearing.
Likewise, we've noted that a clerical error resulted in Ebel's early release -- a botch that incenses Katie Leon, Nathan Leon's widow, and the mother of four-year-old twins who'll now grow up without a father.
Now, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has put out an alert for two other white-supremacy-related associates of Ebel: James Lohr, 47, and Thomas Guolee, 31. No photo of Lohr has been circulated thus far, but here's a look at Guolee:
Guolee, aka "Ghost," and Lohr, known as "Jimbo," haven't been named suspects in the murder. But they're thought to have been in telephone contact with Ebel in the 24-36 hours prior to Clements's slaying.According to 7News, Guolee's rap sheet includes witness intimidation, while Lohr is wanted for a Las Animas County bail violation and defying a protection order. Possible locales for the pair include Nevada and Texas.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Davis, who allegedly founded the 211 crew after earning a thirty-year robbery sentence, was handed a 108-year jolt for his activities in prison. Here's two looks at Davis:
Did Davis's tutelage turn Ebel into a killer? That's among the questions presumably being explored as part of the ongoing investigation. But in a 2006 letter obtained by 7News, he certainly comes across as a hyper-violent sociopath with a decided white-supremacist streak. As evidence, eyeball the letter's post-script: Continue for more about Evan Ebel, including the complete letter. The letter, addressed to someone named Shawna but never delivered (it was seized by prison authorities), demonstrates an enmity for Department of Corrections personnel. At one point in the handwritten, all-caps letter, he writes, "I JUST FANTASIZE ABOUT CATCHING THEM OUT ON THE BRICKS AND SUBJECTING THEM TO VICIOUS TORTURE AND EVENTUAL MURDER."He adds the debatable line, "THAT SEEMS TO GET ME THROUGH THE DAYS WITH A GOOD DEAL OF MY SANITY INTACT."
The letter also suggests a list of targets, with the use of the word "we" implying a potential conspiracy. In Ebel's words, "MAKE SURE YOU COMMIT THEIR FULL NAMES & WHATEVER PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU CAN GLEAM [sic] FROM THEM SUCH AS LOCATION OF RESIDENCY TO MEMORY AND WE'LL ADD THAT TO OUR LONG LIST OF FUN."
