The King Soopers at 9th and Corona isn't just a supermarket: It's a cultural institution. That's why our pals at the Cafe Society blog have posted a photo gallery of the newly remodeled store -- and why we're giving away a $50 King Soopers gift certificate in celebration of this local landmark. How do you win? Glad you asked.

Briefly share your best memory of the 9th and Corona store in our comments section -- there's no word limit, but you don't have to write a novel to come out on top. Be sure and include a valid e-mail address in the box provided for it when posting; no need to also type the address in the body of your comment.

The contest runs through 5 p.m. Thursday, at which point Westword web guru Nick Lucchesi will choose and inform the lucky winner of the $50 gift certificate. It's a prize that's good enough to eat -- or drink -- or whatever!

So what are you waiting for?

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
