Reader: CU Boulder thinks CU Denver is no more a Buffs school than Metro State

Call it like I see it writes:

You may think that you are a Buff... but the folks in Boulder consider you no more a Buff than if you attended Metro State.

The whole CU "system" is just a contrivance for separating the state's premier academic instituion from its spin-offs. Giving Denver/AMC its own mascot is just another step along the way.
