Reader: Did it really cost $11,000 to clean up the Big Blue Bear? Really?

Our post about the arrest of a suspect for allegedly splashing green paint on the Big Blue Bear outside the Convention Center, and the subsequent decision not to charge him with the crime, drew varied responses. Among them was the following post, in which a reader casts doubt on the estimated $11,000 cost to clean up Big Blue.

Douglas Evans writes:

$11,000 in damage? that's in state dollars....which to us normal folk is $100 bucks at Home Depot a couple cans of paint and a ladder. $11,000...what a f*cking joke!
