Our item about a female moose attack on a woman in Grand Lake, the same town where a male moose was photographed mounting a moose statute, inspired posts by folks upset that the cow moose and her calf were euthanized. One reader also noted that such problems are less common than expected given how foolish some people are.

Amelia Ebert writes:

I saw two last year with my dog and they did not run either. They did not attack. Turn around and walk away slowly. I have seen some very stupid people on trails. Years ago I saw a guy get within 5 feet of a bull moose and antagonize it for a good picture. I should have filmed this event. It amazed me the animal did not attack. So sad. These animals are dangerous and need a lot of space.
