Reader: Would students have worn Border Patrol T-shirts in a non-suburban school?

Our post about a controversy at Dakota Ridge High School over Border Patrol T-shirts, and whether officials gave a student a good talking-to for wearing one, has given rise to lots of fiery debate.

Here's one reader remark that plays the race card in an unusual way.

I'd like to know if these kids would have the balls to wear those shirts so proudly out here in California where the schools are.... what's the politically correct way to say this...... less white.
