Today's featured events: Hear animal cracks and other funny stuff at the Denver Zoo

He's an animal, that Adam Cayton-Holland. Therefore, the hyphenated one will fit right in tonight, when he headlines this year's Denver Zoo Comedy Night, which benefits several environmental and wildlife conservation agencies, including the Orangutan Conservancy, Madagascar Faunal Group, WildAid and DECOIN. And although the funny former Westworder will be the stand-up guy at this event, there will also be tasty hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, plus both live and silent auctions, each featuring animal-themed items, to keep the crowds busy when he's not joke-ifying.

Comedy Night runs from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight at the zoo, 2300 Steele Street in City Park; tickets to the over-21 event are $25. Get information at or call 303-376-4916.

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
Susan Froyd started writing for Westword as the "Thrills" editor in 1992 and never quite left the fold. These days she still freelances for the paper in addition to walking her dogs, enjoying cheap ethnic food and reading voraciously. Sometimes she writes poetry.
