Rockstar at Rockbar? Not an unusual coincidence: The glammed-out DJ with the neon mohawk, who refers to himself as "the love child of Klaus Nomi and Nina Hagen," spins mixes from the ´80s and beyond every Friday at the East Colfax joint. But this night is different from all other nights in that it's also when the celeb-crazy annual Rockstar Aaron's Hollywood Birthday Party takes place. There'll be red carpet on Colfax -- and expect the carpet on top of Aaron's head to look just as colorful. No doubt he and guest host Darlen (one of the bad girls from season two of Oxygen's The Bad Girls Club) will keep the place hopping, skipping and oingo-boingo-ing all night long.

Find Rockbar at 3015 E. Colfax Avenue. Guesting DJs paying tribute tonight include Markie from Tracks, Rocky Mountain Roller Girl Pinkie 500 and Rockbar's own Eileen. Admission is a $5 cover at the door; go to Rockstar Aaron's website for details.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
