Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.
While Channel 31's live online stream is only available during newscasts (and, at least last night, a few minutes before), the station offers another video feature that's 24/7 -- one that can feature fighting, eating, defecating and plenty of ridiculous behavior. It's a live "Kitten Cam" focusing on an enclosure at the Denver Dumb Friends League. As this Entertainment Weekly article recently noted, cat videos are all the rage these days, and while the Kitten Cam doesn't offer close-up shots of adorableness on par with, say, this clip of Maru, a Japanese cat who repeatedly gets his head stuck in a paper bag, there's something oddly calming about the sight of random felines wandering, leaping and licking themselves in places most of us aren't flexible enough to reach. Me-ow!
You may need to install Axis software to watch. I did -- and it hasn't made my computer explode yet. Check it out by clicking here.
Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
