Wake-Up Call: Colorado gets an F in spelling and fact-checking

Yes, we know the class of 2009 is graduating into a world that does not give extra credit for spelling skills, or fact-checking. As proof, Boulder Valley School District handed out 395 diplomas to Monarch High grads with the wrong town listed for the school -- it's in Louisville, not Lafayette.

And then there's the program for Conifer High School's twelfth commencement, held on Saturday at Jefferson Stadium, which included this class motto: "The Futurre depends on what we do in the present." Good thing, because the educators who taught that class couldn't insure that their "future" was spelled correctly -- or even get the name of the man behind that statement right.

It's Gandhi, not Ghandi.
